There are many trickster animals around the world, and there are many stories told about them. Mouse Deer is one of the famous trickster animals.

This animal is called trickster, because it tries to trick other animals in the story (trick = austricksen). And what is a mouse deer? It is an animal and almost as big as a cat; it lives in the jungles of Africa, Asia, and many Pacific islands. The mouse deer eats only plants, but lots of animals want to eat the mouse deer. To stay alive, it must be quick and smart.
